Landstuhl has treated 96 war wounded
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — As of Tuesday, 96 military members wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom have been treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.
Sixty-six of those patients arrived via Ramstein Air Base, base spokeswoman Darlene Cowsert said. Nine more wounded and 15 more suffering from non-combat-related injuries arrived Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.
The rest arrived via Rhein-Main Air Base near Frankfurt.
The hospital, the largest military facility in Europe, doubled its beds to 300 in anticipation of treating battlefield casualties.
An additional 15 injured are being treated at Field Hospital Eight, a 116-bed facility at Naval Station Rota, Spain.
