RAF MILDENHALL, England — The 48th Fighter Wing welcomed a new commander Wednesday at RAF Lakenheath.

Col. John T. Quintas relinquished command to Col. Kyle W. Robinson, formerly of the 366th Operations Group at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

“I am excited about the wonderful opportunity to serve with this exceptional wing,” Robinson said, according to a base news release. “My family and I eagerly look forward to building lasting relationships with the East Anglian community.”

Quintas, who has commanded the Liberty Wing since June 2010, was recently selected for promotion to brigadier general and will serve as the senior defense official and defense attaché for the Defense Intelligence Agency in the United Kingdom.

“It was an honor to lead this historic wing, and we will miss the many friends we have made,” Quintas was quoted as saying.
