PYONGTAEK, South Korea — Kunsan Air Base officials said Friday they’re investigating what caused a fuel recovery tank to overflow earlier this week.

About 10 to 20 gallons of diesel fuel were discovered around 6 p.m. Wednesday in a drainage ditch outside the base, said 8th Fighter Wing spokesman Capt. Richard Komurek. The fuel ran from the tank into an on-base drainage ditch that directed it to the fence line, where it spilled into a second ditch outside the fence, he said.
