Kaiserslautern race to disrupt downtown traffic
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Several major arteries in downtown Kaiserslautern will be closed Thursday, starting as early as 4 p.m., for the annual Kaiserslautern “Company Run,” which is expected to draw around 8,000 participants, local police reported.
The area between Lutrinastrasse and Karl-Marx-Strasse near the city’s pedestrian zone, will be closed to traffic starting at 4 p.m. An hour later, the area around Bismarckstrasse and Spittelstrasse will also be closed. The road closures will last until approximately 8 p.m., according to a police press release.
Police advise drivers to be prepared for delays or to find alternate routes. Access to the train station could be difficult during those hours.
The “Company Run,” which draws participants from hundreds of local companies, clinics and other businesses, begins at 6 p.m. The run, which also runs down Eisenbahnstrasse and Barbarossastrasse. Following the run, there will be an “after-run-party” on the Stiftsplatz with a live band and radio DJs.
