The Kaiserslautern, Germany, KMC OnStage production of “Conversations on Russian Literature” was named best play at last weekend’s Festival of One Act Plays, according to an Installation Management Command-Europe news release.
The 13th annual festival, held at Heidelberg, Germany’s Roadside Theater, featured performances by 14 U.S. community theater groups from throughout Europe.
Winners of this year’s festival were:
Best play: “Conversations on Russian Literature,” Kaiserslautern KMC OnStage, Germany.
Best director: Ross Daniels, “Billy Ball II,” Vicenza Soldiers Theatre, Italy.
Best actress: Stacy Smith, “Conversations on Russian Literature,” KMC OnStage.
Best actor: Isaac Watson, “Impossible Marriage," SHAPE Performing Arts Center, Belgium.
Best supporting actress: Joline Powell, “A Stye of the Eye,” Aviano, Italy.
Best supporting actor: Mike Riepl, “Romantic Fools,” Wiesbaden, Germany.
Best performance in a minor role: Michael Hanrahan, “Totally Red,” Ansbach Terrace Playhouse, Germany.
Best ensemble: “Billy Ball II,” Vicenza.
Best stage manager: Bonnie Daniels, “Billy Ball II,” Vicenza.
Best overall design: “Impossible Marriage,” SHAPE.
Achievement award for excellence: Development as a director, Bill Keltner, Bamberg Stable Theatre, Germany.
Best monologue: Jessie Rae Jackson, “Sweethearts,” Heidelberg.
Irving Berlin Award for Programming Excellence: USAG Stuttgart Entertainment Program, Germany.
