KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Wikipedia may be indisputably right about this one.

According to the user-generated, Web-based encyclopedia, beer is the world’s oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage.

And no place is more synonymous with beer than Germany.

Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, the four-day Pulaski Beer Expo kicks off in the parking lot of AAFES’s Pulaski Shoppette.

“It’s our first time doing this expo, and we expect a big turnout,” said Ashraf Mankarious, retail business manager for the Kaiserslautern military community consolidated exchange.

The event has dozens of German, American and Dutch beers for sale. More than 20 beer vendors will be on hand to offer tastings before you decide which type of brew you prefer.

“If you’ve never tried black beer or dark beer, you’ll have a chance to try them,” said Paul Rincon, facility manager at the Pulaski shoppette.

But brews by Budweiser, Bischoff and Bitburger aren’t the only things available. Plenty of Corona is ready for those celebrating Cinco de Mayo this weekend. The popular Mexican beer brand will have a double-decker bus parked outside the tented expo and will set up a big-screen, shoot-’em-up video game.

Not to be outdone, Bischoff will have poker table on Saturday night for Texas Hold’em.

Grilled food can be bought on site, and beer prices will range from $16 to $29 per case.

The expo runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday; and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
