AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy — A 31st Maintenance Squadron airman pleaded guilty at a court-martial last week to stealing gasoline coupons from another airman and then lying about it.

According to court documents released by the 31st Fighter Wing public affairs office, Airman Basic Alexander A. Mendoza was sentenced to three months’ confinement at the military jail in Mannheim, Germany. He also received a $1,000 fine, and was given additional confinement of up to a month until the fine is paid.

Mendoza pleaded guilty to taking $534 in coupons and attempting to take more on another occasion. He also pleaded guilty to making a false official statement, the documents stated.

Additional charges were dropped because of a pretrial agreement.
