The U.S. Army Medical Department Activity-Heidelberg is staging an exercise Nov. 8 at Nachrichten Kaserne to test force protection capabilities in the event of a weapons of mass destruction attack.

Those trying to enter or leave the casern between 7:30 a.m. and noon might experience delays due to emergency vehicles and security personnel participating in the exercise, the Army said in a news release. The main access point will remain open, but the pedestrian gate along Karlsruher Strasse will be closed.

Civilians in the community surrounding Nachrichten Kaserne might be exposed to noise from simulated-bomb explosions and the sirens of ambulance and emergency vehicles, the Army said.
