Spc. Cwislyn K. Walter, a 19-year-old Hawaii National Guard soldier who was born on the island of Chuuk in Micronesia and raised on Guam, died Thursday in a sport utility vehicle crash in Kuwait, according to an Army release.

Three other Hawaii guardsmen were injured. Walter was a passenger in the vehicle.

The crash occurred while en route from Camp Virginia to Camp Arifian, the release said. The cause remains under investigation.

The Army said one soldier was in stable condition in a Kuwait hospital and another was in stable condition at the Camp Arifian Medical Facility. The third soldier was expected to return to duty soon.

They were assigned to the 29th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.
