CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Stephen R. Preston of Guam High School, was recently named a semifinalist in the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Preston, a Department of Defense Education Activity student, was one of more than 1,600 high school seniors to be recognized as a semifinalist at the 48th annual NASP. The NASP recognizes academically promising black students throughout the nation.

According to a DODEA news release, in order to continue to the finalist levels of the competition, “semi-finalists must present a record of their high academic performance throughout their high school career, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that reflect their PSAT/NMSQT performance.”
