Guam helicopter squadron gets new commander
SANTA RITA, Guam — Cmdr. John Menoni assumed command of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 in a change-of-command ceremony last week at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, according to a U.S. Naval Base Guam press release.
Menoni, who had been serving as the Guam-based squadron’s executive officer, relieved Cmdr. Christopher Brunett, who had been deployed to Kuwait for the past six months.
Both men were deployed to Kuwait with Detachment 5, currently on a yearlong tour providing medical-evacuation services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. Naval Base Guam officials said.
Brunett, who has returned to Guam, was to address the command Thursday. His next assignment will be at Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation in Norfolk, Va., according to base officials. Menoni will remain in Kuwait for the next few months with the rest of the detachment.
