HEIDELBERG, Germany — American Forces Network in Heidelberg, a single soldiers organization in Mannheim, and the Rhein-Neckar USO chapter are teaming up for Operation Warm-Up. The operation will collect coats for wounded soldiers who are airlifted out of Iraq without their winter apparel.

Representatives of the organization will be at the Mannheim Sports Arena at Benjamin Franklin Village from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, to accept donations of a new coat, clean used coat or AAFES gift certificate.

The coats and certificates will be distributed to patients from Iraq at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

The USO chapter will hand out hot drinks and gifts. AFN will present a live broadcast of HotFM Holiday Special, which will feature a tally of how many Iraqi Freedom casualties will be a bit warmer this holiday season thanks to the donations.
