WASHINGTON — A nonprofit group that has led public campaigns against Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan will begin airing radio and television advertisements thanking troops for their effort in Iraq.

Move America Forward, based in San Francisco, unveiled the radio and television ads earlier this week. They highlight military accomplishments in Iraq and urge all Americans to oppose calls for an end to U.S. efforts there.

In a statement, chairwoman Melanie Morgan said the impetus for the campaign came “because somebody has to tell the other side of the story that’s not being reported by the news media.”

In the debut advertisements, which began running on Fox News Channel on Thursday, the group lists seven prominent U.S. enemies killed or captured over the past three years — including Saddam Hussein and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi — and also notes that troops are “rebuilding roads, schools and hospitals.”

Officials said the campaign is expected to cost more than $100,000.
