GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — Soldiers stationed here eat some of the best chow served up by the U.S. Army, according to judges from the 38th Philip A. Connelly Awards Program.

Grafenwöhr’s Camp Normandy dining facility, which opened in April, is this year’s winner in the Large Garrison Dining Facility category of the Connelly Awards Program for Excellence in Army Food Service, the Department of the Army announced Thursday. The award is for dining facilities worldwide with the capacity to service more than 400 soldiers.

The U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwöhr food program manager, Joyce J. Toney, said it was the second year in a row that a dining facility from the garrison had won. Last year, the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment dining facility in Hohenfels was judged best large garrison dining facility, Toney said.
