A Giessen Elementary School third-grade teacher was found dead Monday morning in her residence in Alten-Buseck, Germany, according to a Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe news release.

Natasha “Tasha” Nicole Ferguson, a native of Taylors, S.C., was found by fellow teacher Carolyn Miller and school principal Barbara Mueller at about 8 a.m. Monday, the release stated. After a 40-minute resuscitation effort failed, German authorities pronounced Ferguson dead. She was 34.

Ferguson had been a teacher at Giessen Elementary for three years.

Counseling sessions for groups or individuals will be available at the school, the release stated, and the families of all Ferguson’s pupils for the last two school years have been notified of her death.

The cause of death is under investigation by U.S. and German authorities, the release stated.

Funeral plans were not immediately known. A local memorial service is being planned but has not been finalized. Condolences can be sent to the Ferguson family at 101 Thurston Road, Taylors, S.C., 29687.
