An Illesheim, Germany-based soldier was found dead in her barracks Friday night, according to a news release from the 1st Armored Division.

Spc. Chauna Corethers, 30, an aviation systems repairwoman, could not be revived by American and German emergency personnel on the scene, the release stated.

Corethers was found about 9 p.m. Friday by fellow soldiers, 1st AD spokesman Maj. Mike Indovina said Monday. She was transported to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to determine the cause of death.

She was a member of the 7th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Illesheim chapel on Storck Barracks.

Corethers came from San Diego. Her death remains under investigation.
