DARMSTADT, Germany — A stretch of autobahn between the Darmstadt and Wiesbaden military communities was closed to traffic for a few hours Thursday when a German army tank fell off the flatbed truck that was hauling it.

One German soldier was slightly injured in the incident, according to a German police news release.

The truck carrying the tank was southbound when the tank fell off, the release stated. Traffic in both directions on Autobahn 67 was rerouted to allow authorities to safely remove the tank.

The accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. near the city of Gross Gerau. A stretch of autobahn in that immediate area is under repair.
