Air Force Brig. Gen. Larry New has been assigned to a new job that will take him away from his NATO position in Greece.

Gen. T. Michael Moseley, the Air Force chief of staff, assigned New to be the director of operations at the Air Force Materiel Command’s headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, according to a Pentagon news release.

New also has been selected to pin on a second star and become a major general.

Currently, New serves as the deputy commander of Combined Air Operations Center 7, Allied Air Forces Southern Europe in Larissa, Greece.

He is scheduled to start his new job in Ohio sometime in November and be replaced by Brig. Gen. Jimmie C. Jackson Jr., said an Air Force spokeswoman.
