Four students from Pacific military bases have been selected as final candidates in the U.S. Senate Youth Program, the Department of Defense Education Activity announced.

The students are Elizabeth Michael from Yokota High School, who will represent the Japan District; Kelli Cox from Taegu American School, Korea District; Marquette Moore from Guam High School, Guam District; and Anthony Soroka from Kadena High School, Okinawa District.

This year, 13 Pacific students entered the competition. Final selection of each district’s representative was determined by the highest number of points compiled from the candidate’s application, an objective test, a written examination and a taped interview.

Among the candidates submitted by participating DODEA districts worldwide, two students and two alternates will be selected to represent the DODEA on an all-expense-paid visit to Washington, D.C., in spring 2006 as guests of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, program sponsor. They also will receive a $5,000 college scholarship award.
