Five International Security Assistance Force members were killed in southern Afghanistan on Friday in two separate incidents, ISAF Joint Command officials said.

The five deaths make it the deadliest day for coalition forces since Dec. 21, when five Polish soldiers were killed in an IED attack in Ghazni province in eastern Afghanistan.

As stated in the news release, it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
