SEOUL — Five new assignments for generals that will affect 8th U.S. Army commands across South Korea were announced last week by the Army chief of staff.

Three generals are leaving.

Brig. Gen. Timothy P. McHale, commanding general for the 19th Theater Support Command, will become director of the Center for Logistics Readiness within the office of the deputy chief of staff for logistics in Washington.

Brig. Gen. William H. Forrester, Jr., a 2nd Infantry Division assistant division commander, will become the Army Combat Readiness Center commanding general and director of Army Safety, Fort Rucker, Ala.

And Brig. Gen. Joseph E. Martz, another 2nd ID assistant division commander, will become assistant chief of staff for operations and plans with the Coalition Forces Land Component Command in Kuwait.

The announcement also includes one internal move and one new commander within 8th Army.

Brig. Gen. Harvey T. Landwermeyer Jr., director for the Korea Region Office, Installation Management Agency will become an assistant division commander at 2nd ID.

Brig. Gen. Raymond V. Mason will take McHale’s place at 19th TSC. He is the deputy commanding general for Army Materiel Command Forward-Southwest Asia, logistics, with the Coalition Forces Land Component Command in Kuwait.
