KILLEEN, Texas — More than 200 soldiers with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, deployed to Europe from Fort Hood, Texas, on May 19. This was the first wave of “Ironhorse” troops traveling to spend nine months as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve since the unit cased its colors May 9.

Primarily based in Germany, the soldiers will travel throughout Europe as part of the U.S.’s continued commitment to support NATO’s security mission in the region. Atlantic Resolve began in April 2014 in response to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.
