Fire-damaged Kleber CDC set to reopen Oct. 11
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — The Kleber child development center is scheduled to reopen its doors Oct. 11, an Army spokesman said Friday.
The center was closed Aug. 22, after its roof was damaged from a fire that destroyed the neighboring shoppette on Kleber Kaserne.
About 50 to 60 children were temporarily relocated to two Army child development centers at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center base during the closure.
U.S. Army Garrison-Kaiserslautern spokesman Mark Heeter said Friday that the roof has been repaired. Painting and retesting for contaminants still need to be completed before the staff moves back in, he said.
