RAF FAIRFORD, England — The Finnish aircraft display team, the Midnight Hawks, will make its U.K. debut at the Royal International Air Tattoo on July 17-18 at RAF Fairford, England.

All members of the team are flight instructors from the Finnish air force academy in Kuahava. Their name comes for their annual performance at the Midnight Summer Airshow in Kauhava. Because of the midnight sun at the northern site, the team’s display usually begins around midnight.

The Royal International Air Tattoo performance is the team’s second international appearance. The first was in 2000 in Austria.

The air show attracts more than 200,000 people annually at RAF Fairford in west England.

Until the end of February, advance tickets will cost 24.95 British pounds (about $45) either online at or by calling (+44) (0)870 7581918. An administration fee of 3 pounds is also being waived.

From March on, the cost of an advance ticket will be 29.95 pounds. Tickets purchased at the gate on the day of the show will cost 35 pounds.

Children 15 and younger will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult.

The Royal International Air Tattoo is the world’s largest military air show and is presented by the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. Proceeds are used to help fund a variety of charities in the United Kingdom.
