KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A memorial service was held Wednesday afternoon at Ramstein High School in remembrance of senior Brendon Holtzen, 17, who died last week in a car crash near Ramstein.

Many friends, family and Ramstein Air Base personnel attended the memorial, held on the school’s football field to pay their respects. Members of the School’s choir sang a song at the beginning of the memorial as Holtzen’s closest friends and family sat in chairs lined up on the track in front of the grand stands, including Holtzen’s mother, Julie Covert and stepfather, Cody Covert. The Ramstein High School JROTC posted the colors and presented Julie Covert with a shadow box. The ceremony concluded with a prayer by the chaplain then a line was formed to give condolences to Holtzen’s parents.
