A ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday marked the closing of Faces of the Fallen, a collection of portraits of the first 1,319 U.S. servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The exhibit, at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, opened in March, 2005, and will close Sunday, June 10. The portraits, based on newspaper photos and created by 200 artists, will then be sent to the servicemembers' families.

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was the keynote speaker at Thursday's closing ceremony. Also speaking was Greg Commons, father of Army Ranger Cpl. Matthew A. Commons, who died in Afghanistan in March, 2002.
