Event at Misawa planned to promote service groups
The idea of helping others and learning how they help you is the theme of Super Saturday Family Fun Day planned for Saturday at Misawa Air Base’s Weasel’s Den.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will showcase some of the base’s “helping” agencies, through the base’s Helping Agencies Together group.
About 20 agencies are participating, including the health and wellness center, family support center, fire department, security forces and Boys and Girls Scouts.
The event will include prizes and giveaways every half hour and entertainment on the hour.
The event highlight will be a scavenger hunt and “Choose your Own Adventure” event for the first 30 families that register. The first five families to finish the hunt with the correct number of points then will compete in an obstacle course for grand prizes, according to organizers.
The event also will feature face painting, food, car washes for a donation, and free movie showings.
Those wishing to participate must be registered by the start of the event.
All families who attend will receive a special passport to get stamps from participating agencies for free access to Weasel’s Den facilities.
To register, call Capt. Julie Harris at DSN 226-6607 or Alicia Witherspoon at DSN 226- 4250.
