KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – About 50 people are expected to participate in a peace march on Saturday outside Ramstein Air Base, county officials said.

The demonstration is part of a number of rallies peace activist groups are staging around Germany during the Easter weekend holiday.

The theme of Saturday’s march at Ramstein is “against the hate.” Demonstrators will give a series of speeches saying that military action only serves to increase the hatred of terrorists and does not create peace, according to German news reports.

The Easter march has been going on for years and has always been “very peaceful,” said Heiko Laufer, a Kaiserslautern county official.

People are expected to gather around 12 p.m. at the Landstuhl train station. From the train station, they will walk to the 1988 air show disaster memorial outside the base. The gathering is expected to end at 3 p.m.
