EEO adviser in Germany named best in field for ’06
The Europe Regional Medical Command’s equal opportunity adviser has been named best in his field for 2006 by the Army Medical Command.
Sgt. 1st Class Kevin Gatton, based at Nachrichten Kaserne in Heidelberg, Germany, will now compete against the winners from other Army commands in a servicewide competition.
“Getting people to talk to each other is the key to running an effective equal opportunity program,” Gatton was quoted as saying in a medical command news release.
Gatton was selected over six other candidates by a board in San Antonio. Four criteria were used: significant contributions to human relations and equal opportunity programs; significant contributions to human resources and the military service; support of full integration and promotion of minorities and women; and support of fairness, equality, dignity and respect of soldiers and civilians in the command.
Command Sgt. Maj. James Diggs, the top ERMC enlisted soldier, praised Gatton in the news release: “This leader is passionate about his duties and always pursues ways to mitigate diversity stumbling blocks.”
