As students brush off their books and try on new clothes for the start of the school year on Aug. 30, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools in the region are welcoming new faculty and leaders.

DODDS-Pacific and Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) Guam will welcome 14 new principals and administrators and 11 new assistant principals for the 2005-06 school year.

“As we begin school year 2005-06, I am pleased to welcome so many new leaders of this caliber to our schools and district offices,” Nancy Bresell, director of DODDS-Pacific and DDESS-Guam, was quoted as saying in a written statement.

“Leadership is one of the most important factors when it comes to having quality schools and high student achievement. These administrative changes reflect our profound commitment to the needs of our students, schools, and communities.”

The region includes 45 schools and 24,000 students on 18 military installations in four districts: Guam, Japan, Okinawa and South Korea.

The region also has two changes at district superintendent offices. Peter Grenier, former chief of staff for the Japan District Office, now will be assistant superintendent for the South Korea district, a position previously held by Dennis Rozzi.

Rozzi moved to the Japan District Office as assistant superintendent.
