DODDS-Pacific school registration: Where to go and what you’ll need
Students attending Department of Defense Dependents Schools in the Pacific are required to register for the 2009-2010 school year to allow the district to maintain current student information and project student enrollment.
On Okinawa, school and bus registration will run April 7-10. Parents can register their children from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lester Middle School or Kadena Middle School. Parents can also opt to register at their home school office after spring break.
Parents with children who attend schools on Kadena Air Base should register at Kadena Middle School. Those attending other DODDS-Okinawa schools should register at Lester Middle School.
The Okinawa Student Transportation Office will have a registration station at each location. To register for a bus pass, parents must first register their children for school to obtain a copy of the student registration form. Students must also be present to be photographed for the new pass.
Children who will be age 5 by Sept. 1 are eligible for kindergarten, and children who will be age 4 by Sept. 1 are eligible for Sure Start. Parents can register for either program at the registration location within their school zone.
What you’ll need to register students in DODDS-Pacific districts:
Current address, including on-base housing assignment letter or off-base lease with map; updated home and work numbers; e-mail address; and emergency contact information will be required.Active-duty parents must bring a copy of extension orders if orders expire before Aug. 31.Civilian parents must bring a current-year certificate-of-employment letter or renewal agreement of travel orders.Parents registering new students will need sponsor orders/extension or verification of employment, birth certificate or passport, social security number, immunization records, and a copy of current housing assignment or off-base housing lease.Parents who plan to apply for free or reduced lunches should bring a current leave-and-earnings statement.Updated immunization records will be required for all students at registration.For more information, contact your child’s school, the Okinawa district office at 634-1204, or visit www.okinawa.pac.dodea.edu.
