The Department of Defense on Friday identified two soldiers killed in Afghanistan on June 21.
They are: Pfc. Brian J. Bradbury of Saint Joseph, Mo., and the 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.; and Staff Sgt. Heathe N. Craig, 28, of Severn, Md., and the 159th Air Ambulance Medical Company, Wiesbaden, Germany.
Bradbury, 22, was killed when he encountered enemy forces using small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades during combat operations. Craig, 28, died when a hoist on his UH-60 helicopter malfunctioned while attempting to evacuate Bradbury during combat operations.
A Pentagon release said the incident is under investigation.
