The Pentagon has announced a series of general officer assignments.

Maj. Gen. Robert W. Cone, who formerly commanded the Combined Security Transition Command — Afghanistan, has been appointed special assistant to the commander, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va.

Brig. Gen. Michael A. Ryan, currently deputy chief of staff for operations and intelligence, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, to director of strategic effects, U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom.

Maj. Gen. Douglas L. Raaberg, deputy Combined Forces Air Component commander, U.S. Central Command, has been assigned as special assistant to the commander, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Maj. Gen. Stephen L. Hoog, commander, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Air Combat Command, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., to deputy Combined Forces Air Component commander, U.S. Central Command; deputy commander, Air Force Forces; and vice commander, 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force, Air Combat Command, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

Brig. Gen. Tod D. Wolters, deputy commander, political-military affairs, Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, has been appointed director, air, space and information operations, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
