Pentagon officials announced Monday that Charlie Toth will be principal deputy director and associate director for education for the Department of Defense Education Activity. The selection was made through a competitive process.

In his new position, Toth will be responsible for the instructional and educational programs in DODEA’s 192 schools worldwide, according to a DOD news release. He will also oversee personnel operations involving more than 13,000 employees who support military families overseas and in the United States and its territories.

Toth has served in DODEA schools for nearly 30 years and is currently assistant associate director for education. Prior to his current assignment, Toth served as the district superintendent for DODEA’s Korea District, the release noted.

Toth spent several years as a high school principal at Würzburg High School in Germany and Alconbury High School in England and as an assistant principal at Lakenheath High School in England and at Frankfurt Middle School and Frankfurt High School in Germany. He also taught at Frankfurt, Giessen, Bitburg and Osterholz high schools.
