TOKYO — The International Theatre Institute (ITI) is offering half-price kabuki tickets to foreigners living in Japan for 4:30 p.m. performances on Sept. 23, 24 and 25 at Kabuki-za in Tokyo.

The performances of kabuki, traditional Japanese theater, will feature one of the top kabuki stars, Kichiemon Nakamura, and two National Treasure kabuki actors, Shikan Nakamura and Tomijiro Nakamura.

The half-price tickets are 7,350 yen (about $67) and can be purchased through the ITI Web site at or by sending an e-mail to with the applicant’s address, name, phone number, e-mail address, nationality, preferred performance date and number of tickets desired. Each applicant is limited to a maximum of four tickets. The application deadline is Aug. 19.

An earphone guide that gives English translations and an explanation of the performances will be available for a discounted rental fee of 500 yen (about $4.80) with a 1,000 yen (about $9.10) security deposit. An English-language program will be available at the theater for 1,000 yen.
