KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — The Air Force is investigating the cause of death of a technical sergeant at Ramstein Air Base last week, base officials said.

The body of Thomas E. Clifford, 41, was found Feb. 7 in his on-base temporary lodging, base officials said in a news release Thursday.

The death wasn’t reported sooner due to the time needed to identify next-of-kin, base officials said.

Clifford, who was from Montgomery, Ala., was assigned to the 86th Airlift Wing Command Post at Ramstein. He was preparing for a permanent-change-of-station move at the time of his death, base officials said.

Base officials said Thursday that no further information was available on the cause of Clifford’s death.
