Europe’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs recently took home 10 of 22 Army-level awards, with one base winning the top award for outstanding recreation program.

The outstanding recreation program award, medium category, went to the 233rd Base Support Battalion in Darmstadt, Germany.

“Everybody is excited about it,” said Jacqui Haggerty, MWR marketing director for the 233rd BSB. “It has really empowered the staff here, but it won’t change the way we do business. They’ve been doing business this way for years.”

“We are extremely proud of our recreation programs and those who participate in them,” said Kim Walz, IMA-Euro spokeswoman. “It’s wonderful to see their dedication and hard work recognized by the Army. It’s especially important living overseas to have these quality of life enhancing services available to our soldiers, civilians and their families.”
