BARNHAM — Suffolk police are looking for assistance in the investigation into the theft of a twin-axle trailer and about 60 pounds worth of diesel fuel from a farm in Barnham, near Thetford.

The theft took place sometime between the evening of Dec. 9 and the morning of Dec. 11, according to police.

Man in truck gets away with items in garage

BECK ROW — A garage at a home near RAF Mildenhall was robbed Dec. 12 when a man pulled a truck into the driveway and began removing items between 3:20 and 3:30 p.m., according to a Suffolk County Constabulary report. Items stolen included an electric scooter, a white BMX and a swinging garden chair, with a total value of about 425 pounds, the report said.

The suspect is described as white, with a large build, wearing a dark sweater and a hat, and driving a red Toyota van, according to Suffolk police. Anyone who has information on this crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 0800-555-111.

Police arrest man in connection with post office robbery

GREAT THURLOW — Police investigating a robbery at a post office store in Great Thurlow, south of Newmarket, have arrested a 48-year-old Haverhill man in connection with the crime, Suffolk county police Thursday.

On Dec. 12, two men wearing balaclavas entered the store, with one carrying a sawed-off shotgun, according to police reports. While the two men were taking money, a male staff member confronted them with a ceremonial sword and a struggle ensued, the report reads.

The men got away in a stolen vehicle. Police are still searching for information in the case, said Mike Nunn, Suffolk constabulary spokesman.

Residents warned to lock up four-wheelers, lawn mowers

ELY — People who own four-wheelers, also known as quads, and riding lawn mowers are being warned by police to keep them locked up.

According to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary press release, one of each was recently stolen from a shed in the town, in which many Americans from RAFs Mildenhall and Lakenheath live.

“It is vital [these vehicles] are kept securely, particularly if you are storing bikes or lawn mowers for the winter months,” Police Constable Ray Bigg said in the press release.

Officers also are looking for the bikes.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has been offered a second-hand quad bike or ride-on lawn mower, or who has seen one for sale under suspicious or unusual circumstances,” he said.

Thief sought as Armani handbag goes missing from car

PAKENHAM — Police are looking for the thief of a pink Giorgio Armani handbag taken from a Volkswagen Golf on Fen Road near Bury St. Edmunds on Dec. 12. The thief smashed a window on the car sometime between 2:45 and 3 p.m. to get to the bag, which contained cash and credit cards with a total value of about 130 pounds, according to the Suffolk County Constabulary.
