BRANDON — A vandal in Brandon caused about £170 in damage when he threw a “lump of concrete” through a window at a Thetford residence, Suffolk police reported.

The incident occurred on Jan. 8 sometime between 9:15 and 9:40 p.m. when the resident wasn’t at home. Police are asking witnesses to come forward, according to a news release.

Window at eatery damaged by projectiles

BURY ST. EDMUNDS — The front window in a Chinese takeaway was hit with about £600 worth of damage when someone punched five small holes in the glass with rocks or a BB gun, Suffolk police reported.

The incident took place between the evening of Jan. 9 and the morning of Jan. 11. Police are still looking for information from witnesses, according to a news release.

Trailer filled with thousands of shirts stolen

GREAT BLAKENHAM — Suffolk police are looking for clues in the theft Jan. 10 of clothing worth £75,000. Thieves backed a truck up to a trailer packed with pallets of “industrial-style” shirts, hooked it up and drove off, according to Suffolk Constabulary press officer Mike Nunn.

The theft took place at an industrial estate between Clavdon and Great Blakenham around 7:40 p.m. Taken were about 39,000 items of clothing, described as blank versions of shirts often used for promotional or logo purposes, Nunn said.

Police would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the crime or who has been approached to buy those types of items in bulk. The Crimestoppers phone number is 0800 555 111.

Police searching for suspects in robberies of two women

STOWMARKET — Two women in Stowmarket, east of Bury St. Edmunds, were robbed within two days of each other, according to Suffolk police.

The first incident occurred Jan. 9 when a 21-year-old woman walking in an alley was grabbed by three men and pinned to a wall. When they demanded money and cigarettes, the woman struggled and was struck in the face, according to a Suffolk police report. The woman handed over a small amount of cash and the men ran off, the report reads. The woman was not seriously injured, police said.

In the second incident, a 54-year-old woman was loading groceries into her car in a Tesco parking lot when a man grabbed her handbag and ran off with it, according to a police report. Police believe the black, knitted shoulder bag, which contained a purse with cash, credit cards and a cell phone, was later abandoned, and authorities are looking for anyone who may have found it.

Information sought on theft of roadwork equipment

HAVERHILL — Suffolk police are looking for more information into the theft of a “pecker drill,” (a piece of roadwork equipment) stolen from a site on Withersfield Road on the night of Jan. 5, according to a police report. The drill is worth about £2,000 and is green, according to the report. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
