Crime Scene: Confrontation with mother investigated
HAVERHILL — Authorities in Haverhill are investigating a Christmas day incident in which a suspicious man followed a 21-year-old mother near a children’s play area.
The woman was pushing her child on School Lane when the man called out for her to stop, according to a Suffolk police report. The woman ignored the demand and walked faster, but the man continued to follow until she turned, confronted him and screamed at him, the report reads.
The man, described as being Asian in appearance, in his late 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build, ran off when confronted, according to police.
He was wearing a dark-colored top and dark jeans, police said.
Man detained in connection with death of Corton woman
CORTON — Police are holding a 20-year-old man in connection with a Dec. 15 slaying in Suffolk.
Teresa Botwright, 39, was found dead in the yard of a home in Corton earlier this month, according to a Suffolk Constabulary statement. Police are treating her death as a homicide.
The man is being detained under the Mental Health Act for 28 days while the investigation continues, authorities said.
Businessman allegedly robbed of bonuses for co-workers
AYLESBURY — Police are asking for the public’s help in apprehending a trio of thugs who allegedly robbed a businessman of his Christmas bonuses three days before Christmas.
The victim was jumped and sprayed in the face with an undisclosed substance before the assailants made off with his bag of money, according to the Thames Valley Constabulary. The bag contained his colleagues’ wages and Christmas bonuses.
The offenders then split up and ran off.
Police investigating theft of cigarettes from store
BUCKDEN — Police are investigating the recent theft of cigarettes from a convenience store, according to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary statement.
The theft occurred Dec. 23 about 8:30 p.m. when three men entered the One Stop Community Shop on High Street, Cambridge authorities said.
Two of the suspects distracted the staff while the third proceeded to the back of the store, where he stole an undisclosed quantity of cigarettes.
Nothing else was stolen.
