WESTERN SUFFOLK — Burglaries in Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Haverhill are being linked to the same suspects, according to the Suffolk Constabulary.

In the first burglary, someone broke into a house along Dunsey Wood Close in Haverhill on Feb. 15 and stole bank cards, cash and jewelry, including a diamond watch, four bracelets, six necklaces and six rings, according to a news release. The break-in happened between 4 and 11 p.m.

At Mildenhall, a house on Charles Melrose Place was burglarized on Feb. 17 between 3:30 and 11 p.m. A Rolex watch, three necklaces, 14 gold rings and a white gold wedding ring were stolen, as well as four passports, according to the release.

On the evening of Feb. 19, thieves pinched cash, bank cards, checks, three watches and six passports along Bank Street at Lakenheath, according to the release, which added that detectives were linking the burglaries.

Three youths assault man in Ely, take phone, tobaccoELY — Three youths attacked and robbed a man as he walked along Cherry Hill Park around 10 p.m. on Feb. 9, according to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary news release.

The 33-year-old Ely man had walked past a group of six people, believed to be three male and three female teenagers, sitting on a bench near a play area.

The victim was attacked by the three boys, according to the release. He tried to run but was pursued and restrained by two of the youths while the other took a cell phone, tobacco and a portable cassette player from his pockets, the release said.

The robbers fled, and the victim went to a nearby pub, where police were called. The victim was not seriously injured but was left shaken by the attack.

One of the attackers appeared to be 15 years old, slim, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with cropped, fair hair, the release said. He was wearing a white hooded track suit top, dark track suit bottoms, tennis shoes and a scarf over his face.

Another appeared to be about 15 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark track suit top. There is no description of the third youth, the release said.

Thieves hit businesses in industrial areaMILDENHALL — Thieves targeted four units in an industrial area along Hampstead Avenue, Chiswick Avenue and James Carter Road, according to a Suffolk Constabulary news release.

The suspects smashed through a wall, window and doors to steal a Rolex watch, laptop and stamps between 5 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 19, the release stated.
