A March 23 story and headline about Air Force plans to consolidate major commands were inaccurate. The Air Force is considering combining support functions across its 10 major commands as part of a servicewide plan to cut nearly 60,000 jobs. Consolidating those functions — if approved — could help in the Air Force’s efforts to cut that many jobs, but it is just one of many ways in which the service is looking to trim personnel from its ranks.
