A story published Oct. 13 about the avian flu contained incorrect information. An experimental avian flu vaccine has been developed, but the Defense Department has not begun its own testing of its own vaccine. When a vaccine is approved, the Department of Health and Human Services will purchase between 2 million and 20 million of the vaccine, and eventually the Defense Department will purchase enough doses to protect the Armed Forces.
