A story in the July 15 edition about the Navy’s night-landing practice at Iwo Jima mistakenly implied that in the World War II battle for Iwo Jima, Japanese soldiers fought on the beaches. The story also mistakenly implied that the fighting between U.S. and Japanese troops ended after the raising of the American flag by U.S. Marines.
