Contest will let Bamberg's amateur DJs mix it up
June 20, 2005
BAMBERG, Germany — Music lovers can trainspot their favorite tunes as DJs hit the deck with their 12-inches 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Aug. 13 at Birchview Lanes on Warner Barracks.
The Battle of DJs and Cosmic Bowling event is open to up to 10 amateur DJs who will compete for a $500 top prize, according to Tony Hines, who manages the bowling alley.
“It’s something that people are really interested in, and it should be a great night for the DJs and the audience,” Hines said.
So far, two DJs have entered the competition, and it is open to amateur DJs from other communities as well, Hines said. All entrants must register by July 22 by calling 0951-300-7722 or DSN 469-7722 or email email@example.com.
All music styles are welcome, but DJs cannot play songs with explicit lyrics, Hines said. Entrants must be 18 or older.
Each DJ will have between one to two hours of spin time, and a panel of four judges from the community will select the winner, Hines said.
Some equipment will be on hand, but Hines said DJs could bring their own equipment and should bring their own music.
The ticket price for the event also includes a night of bowling and shoe rental, Hines said.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults and $7 in advance or $12 at the door for kids 7 and up. Kids under 7 get in free.
