CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Starting this week, parking at the post office here will be limited during construction of a new building.

The parking restriction will affect the entire parking area in front of the existing post office and the area near the Navy Federal Credit Union and Community Bank.

Construction of the new post office is expected to continue through the summer, Marine Corps officials said. It will be located in the existing parking area, in front of the existing post office, and extend to the end of the lot.

Three nearby areas are designated for short-term parking. The 10-minute zones will include the existing spaces running from the southeast corner of the post office toward the Community Bank and new diagonal parking spaces along both sides of Arkansas Street, south of the post office.

Because of anticipated heavy construction and pedestrian traffic, the speed limit in the area is being reduced to 25 kph.

Post office patrons are asked to schedule their visits during nonpeak times to reduce congestion.
