YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — A section of X Corps Boulevard from the Child Development Center to the intersection with 8th Army Drive was scheduled to close from Friday to Nov. 19 for resurfacing, according to Area II Support Activity.

Access still will be available to the development center, embassy housing areas and the commissary. Access to the South Post Shoppette, the movie theater and the Chosun Gift Shop will be limited to the entrance on 8th Army Drive.

The construction project is one of four major road projects on Yongsan Garrison this fall. A second closure on X Corps Boulevard is expected Dec. 2-3 and will affect access to Collier Field House.

This week’s closure will detour traffic around the shopping area near the Chosun Gift Shop. Drivers are asked to use other routes, such as taking MP Hill, to decrease traffic flow around the site.

Parents going to and from the Child Development Center will be allowed to park on X Corps Boulevard to drop off or pick up their children. Commiskey’s parking lots and services will not be affected, nor will the golf driving range or the Family Fun Park.

Shuttle buses — including the post run, K-16 and Hannam Village shuttles — will be rerouted. The construction is not expected to affect school buses.

Shuttle passengers usually boarding at the Arts and Crafts Center on the X Corps Boulevard side of the Multipurpose Training Facility, Commiskey’s or the embassy housing area are asked to use the bus stops at the commissary or Child and Youth Services.

The K-16 bus will not service the Seoul American Middle School bus stop. Customers will need to use the bus stop at Seoul American High School instead.

Other scheduled road closures coming up at Yongsan Garrison include:

Nov. 25-26: Complete closure of U.N. Boulevard adjacent to the Combined Forces Command headquarters.Dec. 9-10: Complete closure of 8th Army Drive.Nov. 23-28: Partial closure for traffic light installation at U.N. Boulevard and 8th Army Drive.Shuttle bus maps and construction updates are available at
