Pacific Command last week announced the dates and participants for the annual multilateral training exercise Cobra Gold, held in Thailand.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the regional exercise, PACOM’s largest, which is designed to promote peace and stability, according to a PACOM statement.

The main participants this year are the United States, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Indonesia.

As part of the training, to be held May 15-26, U.S. and Thai forces will conduct bilateral field training to complement computer-assisted peacekeeping and humanitarian relief training that all of the participating countries will complete.

In addition to the training, U.S., Thai and Singaporean forces will complete medical clinics and engineering projects to support Thai communities.

Many other countries are invited as observers or to take a small role in the training, including: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, China, Fiji, France, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Russia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tonga, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
