Coast Guard helps rescue woman who fell down steep embankment in Michigan

MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (Tribune News Service) — A Coast Guard helicopter was used to rescue a woman who tumbled down an embankment and fell 25 feet before landing on a beach in the Upper Peninsula.

WLUC-TV reports that the 49-year-old woman from Montana fell while visiting the Hidden Beach area in Marquette County’s Marquette Township on Monday.

Her name has not been released, but she reportedly suffered injuries to the head and knee after the lengthy tumble and fall, which covered nearly 300 feet in total, according to the TV station.

Marquette Township Fire, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette County Rescue 131 and the U.S. Coast Guard all responded to the scene.
