The ship that calls itself the “Strongest Team in the Seventh Fleet” has earned some hardware to help back the claim.

For the fourth year in a row, USS Chancellorsville won the “Battle E,” an award for operational efficiency. The Battle E compares different ships in the same class, tallying points from exercises and maneuvers over a calendar year.

The Chancellorsville, an Aegis guided-missile cruiser, is forward-deployed to Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan.

The 10,000-ton ship has a crew of 350; it is nearing the completion of a long dry-dock period in which several repair projects were completed.

Vice Adm. Robert Willard, commander of 7th Fleet, presented the award last week during a ceremony on a berthing barge, where much of the crew is living while the ship undergoes repairs.
